This is part of Science Series for primary schools for learners in basic 2. It has been designed to provide learners with standard knowledge of science and to train their thinking as scientists who can solve problems of today using scientific mental probing approach. The book has been written to make pedagogy a learner centered approach. In this way, learners are not given straight facts to memorize but to reason along the topic lines through mind probing questions before facts are laid to them. Facilitators are also able to assess the previous knowledge of learners on various topics. The book is written in five (5) main strands with sub-strands as designed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA). The main strands are as follow: Strand 1: This strand talks about Diversity of Matter. Strand 2: This strand talks about Cycles. Strand 3: This strand talks about Systems. Strand 4: This strand talks about Forces and Energy. Strand 5: This strand talks about Humans and Environment. The book has openers to topics in a form of activities and pictures. Learners brainstorm and talk about pictures and follow discussions which are presented as questions. Questions have also been provided at the end of each topic to evaluate learners' understanding of the topics. This is also a means of enhancing learners' understanding of the topics discussed.
